Privacy policy

Last updated: May 7, 2026

VettedClean is a consumer product editorial site. We do not track you. We do not set cookies. We collect personal information only when you explicitly give it to us. This policy explains exactly what data we handle, why, and what rights you have.

Who we are

VettedClean is operated by Stoa LLC, a company founded by Jonathan Amparo. For privacy questions, email [email protected]. Our mailing address is available on request.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first service hosted in the EU. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personally identifiable information, and does not track individuals across sites. It records aggregate page views and referral sources only. No data is shared with third parties.

Legal basis (GDPR): Legitimate interest. Plausible qualifies as an essential, cookie-free analytics tool under the ePrivacy Directive and does not require consent.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to the VettedClean newsletter, we collect your email address and (optionally) your name. Subscription is entirely opt-in — we never add you automatically. The newsletter is delivered through Buttondown, which processes subscriber data on our behalf.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the footer of every email. When you unsubscribe, your email address is removed from our active list.

Legal basis (GDPR): Consent. You actively choose to subscribe, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing.

Affiliate links

Articles and product pages contain affiliate links to retailers such as Amazon, Caraway, AquaTru, and others. When you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer may set cookies on theirdomain to attribute the referral. Those cookies are governed by the retailer's privacy policy, not ours.

We do not receive any personal data about you from these retailers. We receive only aggregate sales and click data (number of clicks, number of purchases, commission earned).

Cookies

VettedClean sets zero cookies. We do not use session cookies, authentication cookies, preference cookies, or tracking cookies. When you visit our site, no cookie is written to your browser by us.

Third-party retailers may set cookies on their own domains if you click an affiliate link and leave our site. We have no control over those cookies.

What we collect

DataWhenPurpose
Aggregate page views and referrersEvery visit (via Plausible)Understand which content is useful
Email address, optional nameNewsletter signupSend the newsletter

That is the complete list. We do not collect IP addresses, device fingerprints, location data, or any other personal information.

What we do not do

  • No third-party advertising scripts (no Google AdSense, no Facebook Pixel, no header bidders).
  • No retargeting or remarketing pixels.
  • No cross-site tracking.
  • No selling, renting, sharing, or trading of personal data — ever.
  • No profiling or automated decision-making.

Data retention

  • Analytics: Plausible retains no personal data. Aggregate statistics are kept indefinitely.
  • Newsletter: Your email is retained until you unsubscribe. After unsubscription, your address is removed from the active list. Buttondown may retain a hashed record for suppression (to avoid re-sending) per their privacy policy.

Data security

VettedClean is a static website. We do not operate a server-side application, database, or user account system. There is no server-side storage of personal data on our infrastructure. All pages are served over HTTPS. Newsletter data is processed and stored by Buttondown, which uses industry-standard security practices.

Your rights under GDPR (EU/EEA/UK residents)

If you are located in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure: Ask us to delete your personal data.
  • Restriction: Ask us to limit how we process your data.
  • Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Withdraw consent: For the newsletter, unsubscribe at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority if you believe your data is being processed unlawfully.

Your rights under CCPA (California residents)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the following rights:

  • Right to know: You can ask what personal information we collect, use, and disclose. The answer is above — email addresses for newsletter subscribers, and nothing else.
  • Right to delete: You can ask us to delete your personal information. For newsletter subscribers, unsubscribing deletes your email from our active list. You can also email us for full deletion.
  • Right to opt out of sale: We do not sell personal information. We have never sold personal information. There is nothing to opt out of.
  • Right to non-discrimination: We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Categories of personal information collected in the past 12 months: Email addresses (from newsletter signups only). Categories sold: None. Categories disclosed for business purposes: Email addresses shared with Buttondown for newsletter delivery.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

VettedClean is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data (such as a newsletter signup), please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

International data transfers

Plausible processes analytics data in the EU. Buttondown is a US-based service. If you are located outside the US and subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is transferred to the US for processing. Buttondown's privacy practices are described in their privacy policy linked above.

Changes to this policy

If we make substantive changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and note the changes here. We will not reduce your rights under this policy without your consent.
