Our take
All-Clad D3 is the canonical American stainless. Three-ply (18/10 stainless interior + pure aluminum core + 18/10 stainless exterior), bonded the full height of the pan, made in PA. Heats slightly more evenly than the tri-ply Cuisinart at twice the price; the V-shape handle is the most-cited ergonomic complaint. Note: D3 is austenitic 18/10 throughout, so it is NOT induction-compatible — D5 and D7 add a magnetic outer layer for induction.
Pros
- US-made with lifetime warranty
- Slightly thicker than tri-ply competitors
- Polished mirror interior
Cons
- NOT induction-compatible (D3 only — choose D5/D7 for induction)
- V-shape handle widely cited as uncomfortable
- Premium price vs Cuisinart MCP for similar build
